I'm a dedicated, passionate education leader with a broad range of leadership and communication experience in multiple associations and a track record of leading teachers to significant gains in student achievement. My leadership education includes the Aspiring Principals Program and Emerging Leaders program of New Leaders and the Aspiring Turnaround Principals Institute run through the Maryland State Department of Education, and I have presented extensively at local, regional, and national conferences. I also consult on education topics including innovative instructional methods and mathematics pedagogy.

Professional development focused on school leadership in a turnaround setting. Topics include change management and school leadership and involved the execution of a schoolwide improvement project aimed at improving student achievement outcomes.

Served as Principal of a Creative and Performing Arts Magnet K-8 Academy. Administrative accomplishments include arts-integration, developing high-functioning teams, and the Data Wise Process.

Resident Principal July 2013 - July 2014

Worked alongside Mr. Kelvin Moore, Mentor Principal, through the New Leaders Aspiring Principals Program in the role of a co-principal. Formal administrative portfolio included oversight of the Science and Special Education departments, teacher evaluation, PTSA liaison, and sixth grade student culture. Increased achievement in Reading/English Language Arts proficiency by 16% and Mathematics proficiency by 30%. Implemented data-driven decision making protocols in Science department. Worked intensely with several teacher-leaders, leading to their promotions to administrative positions at the end of the year.

Led Gholson Middle School Science Team to more than 20 points of achievement gain over two years, first as department chair, then as ILT, through the techniques of data-driven instruction, intensive coaching of teachers, and backwards design of curriculum.

Worked as teacher consultant on educational video game development for the Digital Learning Group.
